A Letter from Fr. Eric
Dear Friend at St. Paul’s:
Remember your college years and memories: A walk down State Street with your best friend; a Saturday football game at Camp Randall, an evening sunset at the Memorial Union Terrace, exam weeks and approaching Helen C. White library, Sunday Eucharist at Saint Paul University Catholic Center? For many of us, it was IN those places that our values, character and faith became matters of personal commitment. Those values and beliefs were part of what you and I received as Catholic students at the UW-Madison. Think of today’s college students on the UW-Madison campus: 43,000 students, over 10,000 of which are Catholic and strongly influenced by those same places and communities. The mission of St. Paul’s is as vital today as it was when you and I were in college.
The St. Paul’s annual budget is over $775,000. This means it costs about $500 annually to meet the spiritual needs of each student attending St. Paul’s. As when you were at the UW, St. Paul’s continues to be a parish mostly of students and as such our annual needs continue to be met mostly by the generosity of our alumni, friends and parents. This year will you consider sponsoring one or more of today’s students at St. Paul’s? If you can’t do a year, perhaps a semester? Know that your gift will be deeply appreciated and wisely used in meeting the spiritual needs of UW students.
On behalf of our staff and the Saint Paul University Catholic Center, thank you for helping us provide a Catholic presence on the campus of UW-Madison.
Rev. Eric Nielsen
